Her visit was a big deal to the country. She came alone, without Prince Charles, upon the personal invitation of Egyptian First Lady Suzanne Mubarak in May of 1992. I would like to emphasize that Lady Di was very well known and loved around the world, and Egypt was no exception. Egyptians adored her.
